Please Help Us in our Work
Amcha is a registered not-for-profit organization. Much of Amcha’s activities are supported by grants from the Israel government, largely through the Holocaust Survivors’ Rights Authority; we also receive ongoing support from such philanthropic sources as the Claims Conference, UJA Federation of New York, Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah (Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah), Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung und Zukunft (Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future), friends of organizations in Germany and the Netherlands.
Yet there is an annual shortfall, that grows from year to year, to operate the psychosocial clubs of over $550,000.
Many of the survivors live solely off their state pension, but some have to pay over $250 every week to travel to the clubs in a taxi because they are elderly, have limited mobility, and cannot travel by bus. We seek to provide them with subsidies. To provide all the survivors who attend the clubs with a weekly subsidy of $56, we need additional annual funding of $550,000.
To run every additional club for the Second Generation – the children of survivors – we need $40,000 per year. To offer psychotherapy to every member of the Second generation who seeks help, we need $2,500 for a full course of treatment.
A donation of $4,250 will allow 10 people affected by the war and receiving psychotherapy to address the PTSD they are experiencing by extending their subsidized care program from 6 to 12 months.
