Chairman's Message
AMCHA has been operating in Israel since 1987, the year in which Holocaust survivors Manfred Klafter - the first chairman, Prof. Haim Dasberg, Dr. Nathan Durst, and Noah Flug initiated its establishment. We have taken upon ourselves the mission that is the "rightmost marker" of all moral missions in our generation: extending assistance to Holocaust survivors living among us, until 120.
Many organizations and individuals strive to support survivors. Within this respected club, AMCHA has a unique role: only we specialize at the highest professional level in providing emotional support in survivors' lives, which was affected by the Holocaust more than any other component. Only we offer survivors diverse services: mental health treatment, social-rehabilitative clubs, and regular volunteer visits. Only we operate branches and extensions throughout the country.
AMCHA's employees and volunteers also extend assistance to survivors' family members, as well as to additional population groups that can benefit from our therapists' expertise. In our vision, we see a just and compassionate society, and we strive to contribute to the advancement of this great idea.
To contribute to the mental well-being of people beyond the circle of survivors and their families, we initiated the establishment of the Benafshenu Association, founded in 2021. This association works to extend assistance to people in need due to national or personal crises, while giving priority to those belonging to vulnerable groups in society.
As human beings, as Jews, and as Israelis, we will continue to support Holocaust survivors. To the modest extent that we understand their hearts, we feel that their pain is our pain, and fulfilling their mental and social needs is our duty. Dear survivors, we embrace all of you.
Sincerely,
Zvi Levin
Chairman
