Amcha in the war of iron swords

Together with all the people of Israel, and with our friends around the world, we were shocked when Hamas terrorists invaded the country’s territory and committed acts of abuse and murder. Together with all the people of Israel, we stand behind the security forces from the first day of the war until its end, and hope that we will soon see all the hostages safe and sound – and that the IDF will deliver a decisive blow to the enemy.

For quite a few days, and according to Home Front Command instructions, we were forced to close some of our branches. We hope to be able to operate them at full capacity, and we care for both the security of the survivors and their mental well-being.

During this period, we are conducting a large part of the treatments remotely, via Zoom. We strive to meet all tasks despite the fact that some of our staff members are in reserve duty. Sometimes spouses are in the army, and the women working with us are taking care of their children in the morning hours as well.

Even in our internal community, tragedies have occurred: family members of Amcha staff have fallen in battle and been murdered. Our hearts are with all the families, in Amcha and throughout the country.

In addition, we are absorbing hundreds of new patients whose distress stems from the disaster and the war. These people, some of them Holocaust survivors, come to us through an emergency line we opened, the National Insurance Institute and the Trauma Coalition, as well as through the Holocaust Survivors’ Rights Authority.

Amcha has also made its services available for returned hostages and for evacuees from the south and north.

We will do our best to contribute our part to the national and humanitarian effort required during this special period.
